My hobbies & passions…
I am a Software Engineer with over 6 years of experience programming professionally. I have worked on a variety of projects, from small web applications to large marketplace systems. I am skilled in a variety of programming languages and technologies.
Fun facts about me: I enjoy playing video games & rock climbing. The hardest rock climbing grade I’ve climbed is V9 bouldering & 5.13c top rope. I got into programming to make mods for the video game Minecraft. I started learning Java when I was 11.
It all started when I was 7 years old. I got my first computer and I thought it was magic. The way you could create things using just a computer fascinated me. I would upgrade my computer myself, giving it more ram or a new hard drive, until I saved enough to build a whole new computer. I remember researching and ordering the parts from Tiger Direct (RIP), and I was super excited when they arrived, I built my first computer when I was 11 years old, and everyone at school thought I was a genius. To be honest, building a computer is like putting a Lego set together, it’s really not all that impressive… but no one had to know that when I was 11 😛
I remember trying to teach myself how to program in Java when I was 10 so I could make my own video game. I gave up many times but eventually I found this YouTube tutorial series by The New Boston. I was determined to figure out everything about programming so I could make my own game someday. I think I probably spent an average of 10 hours a day on my computer when I was a kid… I started modding games like Minecraft, adding new ores & letting myself fly (this was before creative mode was a thing). I made my own server and created a re-creation of Call of Duty, in Minecraft. I wish I still had some of the code for it, but it probably wasn’t that great (I wrote it when I was like 12 or 13).
Since then I’ve made games using OpenGL and C++. I’ve also built websites & apps using a wide range of languages.
I’ve used tons of different frameworks, languages, and tools, especially for web dev. I’ve been programming professionally since 2018, as a hobby since 2010 at least.
I’ve also made plenty of other projects like browser extensions, chat bots, games, etc. I’ve set up tons of servers, automated tons of processes with shell scripts, and configured production environments.
I’ve also contributed to open source projects, done contract work, configured networks, worked for multiple tech startups, and so much more. Take a look at some of my projects below, and see some of them for yourself!
